Privacy Policy
Effective September 1, 2026
GetFluent uses personal information to provide and secure the learning service, remember your progress, communicate with you, and improve the product. We do not sell personal information or use Google user data for advertising.
1. Who we are
GetFluent (“GetFluent,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides online language-learning services. GetFluent is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to [email protected].
2. Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, name, account preferences, authentication method, and encrypted authentication credentials or session records.
- Learning information: course selections, lesson activity, answers, progress, study history, saved settings, and feedback you provide.
- Communications: messages you send to support and, if you join the waitlist or choose marketing emails, your email address and communication preferences.
- Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, security events, diagnostic logs, and essential cookie or session identifiers.
- Subscription information: if paid plans are offered, plan and entitlement status, transaction identifiers, and limited billing metadata. Payment processors handle payment-card details; GetFluent does not need to store complete card numbers.
3. Google user data
If you choose “Continue with Google,” GetFluent requests only the OpenID Connect information needed to identify and authenticate you: your Google account identifier, email address, name, and profile image when available. We use this information to create or sign in to your GetFluent account, link Google sign-in to an existing account when you ask us to, and protect sensitive account actions.
GetFluent may store the Google account identifier, email, limited profile information, authentication timestamps, and encrypted OAuth tokens and expiry information associated with the linked sign-in. We do not receive or store your Google password. We do not use Google user data for advertising, sell it, or transfer it except to service providers acting on our behalf, when you direct us to, or when required by law. GetFluent’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
You can unlink Google from your GetFluent account in account settings. You can also revoke GetFluent’s access from your Google Account permissions. Unlinking or revoking access stops future Google sign-in but does not automatically delete your GetFluent account; you may delete the account separately or contact us.
4. How we use information
We use personal information to provide and personalize lessons, maintain accounts and learning progress, authenticate users, prevent abuse and fraud, respond to support requests, send service messages, honor communication preferences, understand product performance, comply with legal obligations, and establish or defend legal claims.
5. Our legal bases
Where European or UK data-protection law applies, we process information as necessary to perform our contract with you; with your consent, such as for optional marketing; to comply with law; and for legitimate interests such as securing, operating, and improving GetFluent. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
6. When we share information
We share information only as needed with vendors that help us operate GetFluent, such as authentication providers, website and application hosting providers, infrastructure and security providers, email-delivery and mailing-list providers, database or storage providers, and payment processors. Current examples include Google for optional sign-in, MailerLite for the waitlist and marketing email, Netlify for the public website, and Cloudflare for network and security services.
We may also disclose information to comply with law, protect people or the service, investigate abuse, or complete a business transaction such as a merger or acquisition. Vendors may use information only to provide their contracted services, subject to their agreements and applicable law.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
GetFluent uses essential cookies and similar storage for sign-in, security, preferences, and core site operation. The waitlist provider may use its own technologies when its form is loaded or submitted. We do not currently use personal information for targeted advertising.
8. Retention
We keep account and learning information while your account is active and for a limited period afterward when needed for backup, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance. Security and diagnostic logs are generally kept for shorter operational periods. Marketing records are retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, subject to a minimal suppression record used to honor the request.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of your personal information; object to certain processing; withdraw consent; and complain to a data-protection authority. You may update certain information or delete your account through GetFluent’s account settings. You may also email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
10. International processing
GetFluent and its vendors may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on recognized safeguards for international transfers, such as adequacy decisions or approved contractual protections.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, access controls, encrypted provider credentials, and security monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
12. Children
GetFluent is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Where local law requires parental authorization for a user under a higher age, the user must have that authorization. Contact us if you believe a child provided information improperly.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as GetFluent changes. We will post the revised policy here, change the effective date, and provide additional notice when required.
